L’objet de ce programme est de montrer la richesse du répertoire européen consacré aux instruments qui entourent l’orgue et la voix : cornets et trompettes. D’un pays à l’autre, les noms changent – Clarino, Tromba, Cornetto, Trompette, Cornet, Tromba di Guerra, Principale, Corno e Tromba da Tirarsi – mais l’intention reste la même : magnifier la parole musicale, la porter plus loin, plus haut, plus solennellement. La période Baroque représente l’âge d’or de la trompette naturelle. Sa technique, développée notamment dans les cours impériales et princières, atteint un sommet de virtuosité.
