Alice Julien-Laferrière omringt zich met een rijk continuo-ensemble en pauken om het virtuoze repertoire van 17e-eeuwse Duitse muziek ten gehore te brengen. Het toevoegen van pauken aan een kamermuziekprogramma is ongebruikelijk, en dat maakt dit concert zo bijzonder: het verkennen en ondermijnen van de imitaties van trompetten en pauken die in de werken uit deze periode te vinden zijn, om zo een frisse kijk te bieden op dit demonstratieve repertoire. De viool in al zijn stemmingen: gestemd, vals, harmonieus of strijdlustig, klaaglijk of wraakzuchtig, lyrisch en donderend… een duik in de Stylus phantasticus, het tijdperk waarin de viool net zijn stempel begon te drukken!
