Lapidary Museum

Discovering a surprising and mysterious profession practiced by the men and women of Haut-Jura since the 18th century.
Initially complementary to agriculture, this activity carried out on the farm then gave rise to the creation of specialized workshops. Today a handful of lapidary artisans still work for the greatest jewelers.
Winter snow, the sound of millstones, the hardness and beauty of stones, the art of cutting, the magic of rubies, sapphires, emeralds and other fine stones... demanding expertise mastered by the inhabitants of Haut-Jura.
The Museum pays tribute to these generations of artisans of brilliance and color.
