At the start of World War II, the demarcation line between the occupied zone and the so-called "free" zone ran right past the edge of the commune, dividing the commune of Les Rousses in two. A group of resistance fighters stayed in the valley of Mont Fier, and clashes with Nazi troops took place from the lookout point, which has since become the "maquisards' lookout point."
