The Station des Rousses has two lakes nestled more than 1000m above sea level In the heart of the Jura region. These natural gems offer a peaceful escape and a multitude of activities for all nature lovers. An iconic jewel of the region, this lake offers a variety of activities for the whole family thanks to its large surface area. Enjoy the water sports and embark on a journey of discovery of the lake aboard a pedal boat, canoe, kayak, or paddleboard. Rentals are available for a minimum of half an hour. Experience special moments with family or friends.

Enjoy swimming (supervised in July and August, every day from 13 p.m. to 19 p.m.) with a view of the Noirmont massif and, in the distance, the Dôle massif.

Rentals at Lac des Rousses (water sports center)

From June 13 to 28, 2026, the nautical base is open on Wednesdays and weekends from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m.
From June 29 to July 17, 2026, every day from 13 p.m. to 19 p.m.
From July 18 to August 23, 2026, every day from 11am to 19pm.
From August 24 to 30, 2026, every day from 13 p.m. to 19 p.m.

For fishing enthusiastsThe lake is teeming with trout, pike and other fish, providing an ideal playground for enthusiasts.

INFORMATION:

  • A full tour of Lac des Rousses is not possible: a wooden boardwalk allows you to discover part of the peat bog.
  • Bicycles are not permitted on the beaches, lawns and on the footpath along the shores of Lac des Rousses and Lac de Lamoura.This ban aims to preserve peace and quiet, user safety, and the fragile nature of the site. Cycling is therefore not possible on the immediate paths around the lake, nor on the platforms leading into the peat bog.
  • For the respect and tranquility of the site, our Animal friends, even on a leash, are prohibited to the lakes of Rousses and Lamoura.

Lake Lamoura

Popular destination for nature lovers in search of tranquility, it is the highest lake in the French Jura. This little natural gem offers an authentic and preserved setting, ideal for a relaxing day with family or friends.

Its beach is ideal for swimming (supervised in July and August, every day from 13 p.m. to 19 p.m.), offering a refreshing break in the heart of summer.

children's games and total picnic area have been developed along the lakeshore. Fishing enthusiasts will also be delighted by the lake's fish-filled waters. Exploring the area around Lake Lamoura will reveal bucolic hiking trails, perfect for a forest stroll or a cycling getaway. Be inspired by the natural beauty of the French Jura.

FROZEN LAKES

In winter, it is strictly forbidden to practice any activities on the frozen lakes of Rousses and Lamoura.
In periods of extreme cold and if the state of glaciation is deemed satisfactory, the lakes may be authorized for the practice of ice skating by municipal decree. In the absence of official authorization, do not venture into these dangerous areas and inquire at the Town Halls.

At the Station des Rousses, it is possible to fishing on Lake Rousses. Discover the reglementation of this protected natural space:

  • The population of Lac des Rousses is composed of 7 species (pike, perch, roach, rudd, tench, chub and whitefish)
  • The number of catches per day per fisherman is 4 salmonids, including 2 maxi brown trout and 1 single pike
  • It is frozen for 4 to 5 months of the year and fishing is generally practiced from the end of April to the end of November. Note that it is it is forbidden to make holes in the ice
  • Fishing from the shore is possible, especially from the pontoon located near the beach, very practical for children, provided however that close supervision is exercised
  • Fishing from a boat is authorized, but without electric or thermal motor and without echo sounder

Minimum size of captures:

  • brown trout: 30 cm
  • rainbow trout: 25 cm
  • whitefish: 35 cm
  • pike: 60 cm

Opening and closing dates

  • For trout : open on the 2nd Saturday in March and closed on the 3rd Sunday in September
  • For the pike : open on the last Saturday in May and close on January 25 of the following year, if the lake is not frozen

The Jura is an independent department for fishing; if you hold a card from another region, a local extension is required for Lake Rousses.

Lake Lamoura

Fish management and regulations for Lake Lamoura are under the supervision of a private association.
The lake is part of the private domain and does not benefit from the same regulations as other lakes in the Jura region under the supervision of AAPPMA (Approved Associations for Fishing and Aquatic Environment Protection); valid fishing permits are only available for sale in the villages of Lamoura and Lajoux. By municipal decree navigation is prohibited (float tube, rowboat, fishing canoe). 

Opening and closing dates

From the first Saturday in June to the last Sunday in November inclusive.

Limitation of catches:

  • One pike per day per fisherman
  • 3 salmonids per day per angler, only one of which must be over 40 cm
  • 10 trout over 40 cm per year

Minimum size of captures:

  • trout: 25 cm       
  • pike: 55 cm
