Cross-country skiing is deeply rooted in the identity of the Jura Mountains. It embodies a true philosophy, a way of living every day! Nestled in the heart of the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park, the Station des Rousses cross-country ski area has been awarded the highest distinction of the Nordic France label (5 Sapins, excellence in cross-country skiing, activities, services and environment).

In the cross-country skiing areas in the Jura, Animals are only allowed in “freedom” areas for the comfort of all.

Good deals and discounts

Family Pass : Free pass for the 4th person and up, for a family including at least one parent. This pass is offered exclusively to children under 16, with a limit of 3 free passes (payment in a single payment). It applies to the Nordic Station Pass session, as well as to the weekly and seasonal Jura Mountains Nordic Passes.

Marmousets play area : ideal for beginners, in the heart of the village of Upstream Woods, is accessible to all holders of a valid “Jura sur Léman” Nordic or Alpine Pass, regardless of the duration. Get started with skiing by combining technical learning with fun thanks to this recreational area. You will find different workshops materialized such as small slaloms, bumps and initiation courses.
Opening hours: During (French) school holidays: every day from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m.
Outside school holidays: Wednesdays and weekends from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m.

Cross-country skiing in the Jura: The trail of thoughts

The trail of thoughts is located in the Risoux forest (accessible from the villages of Les Rousses and Bois d'Amont, at the start of the Combe du Vert and Combettes trails). On this trail, cross-country skiers can now combine sport and spirit thanks to around fifteen judiciously positioned signs. They contain philosophical or amusing quotes that help free the mind from all the daily worries. Consult the map of the Nordic trails here.

It should be noted

Some parts of the forests in our territory (Massacre, Sambine and Risoux) are classified as biotope area*, it is therefore forbidden to leave the marked and secured slopes, from December 15 to May 14. Inquire at the resort's tourist offices.
*A biotope zone is an area where specific regulations apply in order to preserve the wealth of wildlife, of which the Capercaillie is the emblem. You will find additional information here.
