Das zum Musée de France ernannte Abteimuseum, das sich auf dem Gelände der ehemaligen Abtei Saint-Claude befindet, beherbergt Überreste aus dem Mittelalter und eine hervorragende Gemäldesammlung des 1. und 300. Dieses Museum ist das Ergebnis einer Schenkung zweier Künstler: Guy Bardone, ein gebürtiger Einwohner der Region, und René Genis. Ihre Sammlung präsentiert mehrere Künstlergenerationen, darunter bedeutende Namen der modernen Kunst wie Bonnard, Vuillard, Vallotton, Dufy sowie die Stifter Guy Bardone und René Genis. Im Untergeschoss befindet sich eine archäologische Stätte von unschätzbarem Wert: die bedeutendsten und einzigen bisher bekannten Überreste der Abtei Saint-Claude. Sie wurde im 5. Jahrhundert gegründet und ist eine der ältesten Abteien Frankreichs.

Im Herzen von Saint-Claude, neben der Kathedrale, liegt das Abteimuseum in perfekter Harmonie mit der umgebenden Natur.
