Nyon and Saint-Cergue

From its gentle incline, the famous little tourist train which leaves from La Cure (a hamlet near Les Rousses) gives you the opportunity to admire amazing views that take in Lake Geneva and its surroundings, the Alps and Mont Blanc.

In Nyon, a historic town founded by the Romans under Julius Caesar, lovers of culture and history can quench their thirst for knowledge by visiting a rich array of museums. You can also take a paddlewheel cruise on Lake Geneva to visit the medieval French city of Yvoire on the other side of the lake (information from the Les Rousses Resort Tourism Office).

If you get the chance to stay at Les Rousses Resort in autumn, don't miss the "Désalpe" of Saint-Cergue, the largest downhill cattle drive in Switzerland. This is a parade of over 700 cows between La Cure and Saint-Cergue, with bells on their necks and flowers on their horns, leaving their summer pastures to return to their stables on the plains (more info at the official site of the Désalpe of Saint-Cergue).
